Mrs. Donna Gail Coolman-Cook (née Toponce) died unexpectedly in Hendrick Medical Center on Friday, June 3, 2016 in Abilene, Texas at the age of 62.
Donna is survived by her husband, Mr. Larry Cook; children, Glen Coolman and Lynn Nichols of Fort Worth, TX, Kristie and Cody English of Abilene, TX, and Cullen Coolman of Abilene, TX; grandchildren, Ashley English, Tyler English, KaCie Coolman, Robert Coolman, and Dacota Coolman; siblings, Larry and Judy Toponce of Coleman, TX, Nancy and Rudy Arredondo of Lubbock, TX, Johnny and Ruth Stone of Shepherd, Michigan, and Sandra Isreal of Abilene, TX.
She was preceded in death by first husband, Keith Coolman of Abilene, TX; parents, Emmett and Annie Toponce of Abilene, TX; grandmother, Lillie B. Anderson of Abilene, TX.
Donna was born on December 3, 1953 in Abilene, Texas to Annie and Emmett Toponce. She attended Abilene High School and pursued a secretarial degree while living in Indiana in the 70's while Keith was stationed outside Kokomo, Indiana while in the United States Air Force. She married Keith Coolman in 1974, who passed away suddenly in 2002. Donna later met a wonderful and patient man, Larry Cook and they were married in January 2009 at Trinity Baptist Church in Abilene, Texas. Donna worked for many years as a design consultant for Home Interiors and most recently as a daycare worker at Pioneer Drive Baptist Church. She enjoyed quilting and crafts in her spare time and is remembered as a loving mother and grandmother that struggled most of her life with mental illness and later in life with fibromyalgia.
A funeral service will be held at 11:00 am Tuesday, June 7, 2016 in North’s Memorial Chapel, 242 Orange St. with Toby Henson of First Baptist Church in Clyde, Texas officiating. All are welcome to attend and celebrate Donna's life. Visitation will be from 5:00 - 7:00 p.m. Monday, June 6, 2016 in North's Memorial Chapel.
The family would like to thank the hospital staff of Hendrick Medical Center for their efforts and care of Donna.
