Obituary for Dorothy Tedford (Little)

Dorothy Jane Little Tedford, 80, of Round Rock formerly of Abilene, passed away Friday, June 10, 2016. Services will be Thursday at 2:00 p.m in North’s Memorial Chapel with Reverend Keith Clifton officiating, followed by a private family burial. Visitation will be 5 - 7 p.m. Wednesday in North’s Memorial Chapel, 242 Orange Street, Abilene, Texas.

Dorothy Jean Little Tedford, was born in Clyde, Texas, on July 1, 1935 to J.A. Little and Nola Knott Little.
She moved to Hamby where she went to the first and second grade, and then moved back to Clyde, Texas where she graduated in 1953 as Salutatorian of her class.

She went to Draughon’s Business College, and then moved to Denver City, and worked for Atlantic Refining Company until she moved back and married Lynn Tedford on June 19, 1954, where she had lived ever since. Dorothy worked for Lone Star Gas Co., American States Insurance, West Texas Fair, Mall of Abilene, Abilene Ag and Sojourner Drilling Corporation.

In 1986 she obtained her real estate license and worked for Panian & Mash. She was salesperson of the year for the Abilene Board of Realtors one year and top salesperson for Panian & Mash for two years. Dorothy won many other honors with Better Homes & Gardens. Her family was very important to her, and she told lots of funny stories on herself that happened during her West Texas Fair, and her real estate years.

She was gifted with her hands, and made beautiful knitted & crocheted items. Her mother taught her to crochet when she was seven, and she taught herself how to knit in her 40’s.

She is survived by her husband, Lynn Tedford, one son, Stephen Tedford, two granddaughters, Tisha Myers (Matt) of Round Rock, Christie Tedford Chaikong (Jim) of Abilene, two step granddaughters, seven great-grandchildren, and four step great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents, four sisters, Peggy Corder, Margaret Walker, Zola Mae “Mickey “Sanders Corder and JoAnne Clemmer.
