Obituary for Larry Farr
Larry Don Farr 73, of Abilene, Texas passed from this earth to his heavenly home on Saturday, March 3, 2018.
Funeral services will be held at 9:30 A.M. Wednesday, March 7, 2018 in the Southern Hills Church of Christ with Bill Brandt officiating. Interment will follow in the Texas State Veterans Cemetery, under the direction of North’s Funeral Home. The family will receive friends from 5:00 P.M. until 7:00 P.M. in North’s Memorial Chapel, 242 Orange St.
Larry was born November 18, 1944 in Ft. Worth, Texas to Harry and Peggy (Douglas) Farr. He joined the reserves in 1966 and was drafted into the Unites States Navy in 1967 where he proudly served his country. He graduated from the Naval Hospital School in Great Lakes, Illinois as a Hospital Corpsman. His significant life accomplishment was to ensure our service people and their families knew they would never be forgotten. To further this endeavor, he designed the “Not Forgotten” coin. At last count, over 240,000 coins have been distributed.
He was preceded in death by his parents, brother Jerry and his beloved son, Shane.
He is survived by his loving wife of thirty years, Sue. Children, Kristy Farr Edmonson, Leigh Anne Campbell, Kirk Lomax and Kim Roohms. Ten grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.
