Vicki Lou Austin was born on February 8, 1944 in Abilene, Texas to
Edward Paul and Rachel Burgess Austin. She attended Stuart Hall in
Virginia before graduating from Abilene High School, then attended the
University of Texas. She then began a life filled with love, service
and friendship to her family and all she met, living abroad and in the
states for a time before returning to Abilene to raise her family.
A long time member of the Church of the Heavenly Rest, she was actively
involved in the choir and the Daughters of the King for many years. She
loved music, and instilled the love of music and the arts in her
children. She was an avid gardener who thrilled at showing off her most
treasured garden blooms. Vicki enjoyed reading and wrote children's
books. She was especially happy in her kitchen, making her legendary
pecan pies and chocolate chip cookies. She was involved in the medical
community, working for many years as a medical assistant for several
local doctors. She lit up the room with her laughter and warm hugs.
Preceded in death by her parents, Vicki is survived by her three
children - daughter, Gabrielle Burgess Noack of San Mateo, California,
and sons, Austin Brooks and wife Cheryl, of Grapevine, Texas and Jeff
Davis and wife April of Arlington, Texas; and grandchildren, Michael and
Marina Noack of San Mateo, and Bastian and Lucian Davis of Arlington,
Texas. She is also survived by her sisters, Tiffany Austin Wagstaff and
Peggy Garrett, along with nephews, Robert Burgess Wagstaff and family
and James Austin Wagstaff, of Abilene; many other nieces, nephews,
cousins and close friends.
Memorials may be made in Vicki's name to the charity of the donor's choice.
