Obituary for Judith Kaye North

Judith “Judy” Kaye Lollar North, 74, of Abilene, passed away peacefully on Thursday, December 7, 2017. A Memorial Service will be held at 11:00 A.M. Saturday, December 16, 2017 in North’s Memorial Chapel, 242 Orange St. The family will receive friends Friday, December 15, 2017 from 5:00 P.M. ~ 7:00 P.M. in North’s Memorial Chapel.

Judy was born, July 16, 1943 in Abilene, Texas, to E. C. Lollar, Jr. and Pat (Pope). She attended schools in Anson Texas and graduated in 1961. She received her Bachelors Degree from McMurry University in 1965 and enjoyed many years of teaching Special Education in Abilene and the surrounding areas.

She loved the hunt and find of antiques which she fondly called “junkin”. She enjoyed reading and had a library of book to show for it. She treasured spending time with her children, grandchildren and her many friends. Judy’s special gift in life was loving people well.

She married Joe C. Ward in 1968, they were blessed with two children and remained friends until her passing.

She married James “Bubba” North on July 3, 1976 and shared forty years together before his death in 2016. Bubba’s son, Mark and wife Jannes were very dear to her and held a special place in her heart.

She was preceded in death by her parents and husband.

She is survived by her children, Sean Ward, Shay (Ward) Finley and husband Lance of Abilene. Mark and Jannes North of Mesquite, Texas, Tammi and husband Keith Gilbert of Anson, Texas. Grandchildren, Jesslyn Davis and husband Zach, Lexi Ward, Chase Finley, Alyssa Ward, Chloe Finley, Jacy Ward, Taylor North and Donovan North. Two great-grandchildren, Charlee and Raylee Davis. Brothers Bob Spurgin and wife Sue, Terry Spurgin and wife Pat. She is also survived by her many friends who have loved and taken care of her these past months.

We want to especially thank Sue Laughter for her love and devotion to our Mom and her lifelong friends, Barbara Holmes, Lon Baucum and Sharon Weaver.

In lieu of flowers, the family ask that a donation be made to Hendrick Hospice Care.
