Obituary

Terry Sliter, age 70 of Tuscola passed from this life on Monday, August 18, 2020. Visitation will be on Monday, August 24 from 6pm to 8pm at North's Funeral Home, 242 Orange St, Abilene. Funeral Services will be Tuesday, August 25 at 9:30am at North's with Dr. Robert A. Williamson, Jr. officiating. Burial will follow at the Texas State Veterans Cemetery in Abilene. Pallbearers will be Brendon Sliter, Braxton Sliter, Buster Davis, Steven Wallis, Jeff Wallis and Cody Childress. Honorary pallbearers are Larry Carter, Don Hopper and Randy Cornell.

Terry was born on September 29, 1949 in Saranac Lake, New York to Donald and Doris Bordeaux Sliter. He attended school in Saranac Lake where he excelled in Basketball and Football. After graduating from high school Terry joined the United States Marine Corps and proudly served his country in Da Nang, Vietnam. In 1973 Terry came to visit his father who was stationed at Dyess AFB and decided to make Abilene his home. He was a Truck Driver in the area and went by the CB handle of "Dirty Harry". Terry retired from Mike Wallis Trucking in 2005 due to his health. He was a member of VFW Post 6873 where he was known as "Yankee" and a member of the American Legion Post 57. Terry enjoyed his retirement spending time with his family and his beloved dogs, Moose, Ice and Sugar Bear.

Terry was preceded in death by his parents, Donald and Doris and good friends, Doyle Sellers, Mike Wallis and Kurt Childress.

He is survived by his son, Terry Sliter and wife Stephanie of Tuscola; grandchildren, Kaitlyn "Peach" Sliter, Brendon Sliter, Braxton Sliter and Bryan Caudill; sister Sheryl Shotwell of San Angelo and daughter-in-law, Corina Vasquez Sliter.

Terry was an employee for us at Newco Services for many years. There are so many memories of ‘Dirty Harry’ to tell but that would literally take days. I smile and laugh when I think about the times I had with him. He was a great man and friend and will be missed.
Rest In Peace Dirty Harry.
